Shifty the duck has been up to his tricks again. He’s always getting into scrapes! Today I found him exploring where he shouldn’t be in the kitchen. Oh dear, he really needs house-training!
At least it got me this week’s 52 Weeks theme – Diptych or Triptych.
A few days ago I found Apollo the duck in a geocache. He said he had heard of the legendary Mr Duck and would love to meet him. Well since Mr Duck is a good friend of Alistair, and we were going to meet them both at Leeds Hack this weekend, I agreed to take Apollo along to meet his idol. He was over the moon when Mr Duck agreed to share his QR Code cupcake with him!
Much fun was had today at PuncCon – a bunch of geeks get together every year, hire punts on the River Cam in Cambridge and mosey down to Grantchester Meadows for a big picnic. We thought bringing along my big duck, Shifty to tow behind our punt would be a good idea. And it was!

Shifty enjoyed himself on the bank as well as on the water.
Lurking On The Bank
Someone gave Shifty too much Pimm’s, and so he was weaving all over the place trying to swim behind our punt.

Finally we reached Grantchester Meadows and enjoyed our picnic on the grass, along with Mr Duck, Seedy, Sunny and Strawby.
Shifty loves nothing better than a paddle in a pond, stream or river. Today he enjoyed a little swim in the River Ter at the ford near Great Leighs. Perfect for this week’sToybox 52 Theme, Landscape.
Shifty is a big duck. He’s been complaining that the bath is a little bit small for him (especially when he’s not the only one in it!), so today we went to find him a big puddle to paddle in. This was some flooding on a road near the local river. He was very happy and quacked in delight.
