My first pier in East Sussex was at Hastings. It’s currently in a rather sorry state, having burned down in 2010, but is in the process of being repaired. It’s hoped it will be open to the public again by Summer 2015.
Seating Along The Prom
Obviously, there wasn’t anywhere to have cake on the pier itself, but I found a hotel just opposite where I had a tasty hot chocolate sponge on their terrace overlooking the works.
After my trip to Rothesay, I then headed by train to Gourock and then a short ferry ride to Dunoon. Sadly, the weather had turned rather dreich by the time I arrived. The pier itself is no longer open to the public and the ferry docks a few hundred yards away at a new linkspan.
Dreary Dunoon Afternoon
I found some tasty cake at the pier café kiosk which was open but not doing much business, before returning to Gourock on the ferry and thence back to Glasgow.
