High Water Moorings
Title: High Water Moorings
Location: Paper Mill Lock, Little Baddow
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: The canal towpath was pretty squelchy today and the water was very high. The Chelmer & Blackwater navigation is a canalised river but it still suffers from flooding regularly after heavy rain. The lock at Paper Mill was overrunning both gates and the weirs were in full furious flow. This calm little scene, just upstream belies the raging torrents further down.

The Little Black Bridge
Title: The Little Black Bridge
Location: Little Baddow Lock, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: This is the footbridge across the canal just downstream of Little Baddow Lock. Its piers have collected lots of flotsam from the recent storms – by the looks of the weather forecast, there will be more to come over the next few days.

Selfie Out-Takes – Jan ’14

Despite much trepidation, I’ve actually enjoyed my first month of Self Portraits! Who would have thought it? Here are some of the out-takes which didn’t quite make the cut for January – click the thumbnails to view a slideshow:

Location: Little Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 /20mm f/1.7
Notes: Having been housebound all morning waiting for the delivery of a new laptop, I enjoyed a lovely walk this afternoon once it had arrived. I took a hike around Great Graces – this is the track known as Grace’s Walk. It was rather muddy, but the sun shone and the sky was blue.
