FDT – Winter Starfish Edition

I’ve decided not to use a Face Down Tuesday shot for each of my Once A  Month Treasure Hunt themes this year. Instead, I will be making images of Sandford Mill Footbridge each month. But I will continue with the odd (sometimes very odd) Face Down Tuesday picture.

Today I had a long walk to Sandford Mill in the snow. It wasn’t until I was ¾ of the way round that I remembered it was a Tuesday! I didn’t have the usual tripod and wireless trigger with me which makes life a little easier. But I hastily set up a shot at the next convenient opportunity, using one of the lock gates as a camera prop, and running to-and-fro to set off the self-timer:

Location: Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation, near Sandford Mill Lock.
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: I did a 10-mile walk in the snow today, from home to Sandford Mill Lock and then back into town via Chelmer Village. It wasn’t quite as cold as this image suggests, but I was wrapped up well. I liked the rippled reflections in the canal waters.

Winter Walk To Sandford Mill

I took a snow day today and walked a big 10-mile circuit to Sandford Mill Lock via Great Baddow, and back into town via the canal towpath. It wasn’t as cold as I had imagined, but I did wrap up well! The sun shone for me briefly too, so I was treated to some blue sky.

I chose my new Once A Month Treasure Hunt location as Sandford Mill Footbridge for Day #1849, made [email protected] image #5 and even managed a Face Down Tuesday shot today too! Here are some more images I took today:
