I’ve had a few more images accepted in various FIAP and BPE Salons and Exhibitions. The first news came from across the pond where I had entered the Greater Lynn International Exhibition, my first entry to a FIAP-accredited salon in the USA. I was pleased to hear that I’d had one accpetance:
The next result was in the Vale of Evesham National Exhibition (with BPE patronage), with this mono image:
The other BPE-sponsored Salon was the result from the Basingstoke National Open Photography Exhibition, where another mono image was selected.
So far this year, I’ve only had one result card back without any acceptances (from the 4th Luxemburg International), but overall I’m pretty pleased with my recent entries and results. I will keep plugging away and am currently looking at sending off entries for the next batch of competitions.
Mid-March saw me head north to Newcastle to stay for a few days again. Despite there being no Maker Faire this year (shame), it was Science Week instead. There were various events arranged during the week. We visited the Botanical Gardens, attended a lecture on Astronomy and heard Alistair Campbell speak about the science of decision making.
Unfortunately, towards the end of my trip I managed to pick up a nasty throat and ear infection, which put a slight dampener on our outings. I was well enough to go to Beamish outdoor museum and see friends for a Newcastle Photowalk around Whitburn and Souter Lighthouse. Alistair and I also indulged in a bit of night time light painting, with my newly-acquired LED Lenser V24 lightsabre. It was great fun and I’m pleased with the results so far.
Here is a selection of images from my trip:
Wow, another busy month for photography! The first week saw the end of my Florida holiday with trips to Adventure Island and Universal Studios, Sarasota, Disney Hollywood Studios, relaxing in Haines City, Legoland Florida and a quick trip around some of the other Disney Parks.
Photographic opportunities didn’t stop once I got home – for starters it was snowing heavily when we arrived back in the UK – which was a bit of a shock to the system after a fortnight of warm weather!
A few days later I enjoyed a day of Street Photography with the GNPC who went to London to visit Columbia Road Flower market, Brick Lane and Spitalfields. The genre is rather out of my comfort zone but I was pleased I was able to take some quite satisfying people shots.
It can’t have been that bad, because a week later I was Back On The Streets, this time visiting Portobello Markets with the London Flickr Meetup. Again, many characters to see!
The final outing of the month was to see some Point to Point horse racing at Easthorpe with a combined Chelmsford Flickrwalk and GNPC outing. The high speed action shots were challenging but again I was quite pleased with the results.
