Day #361

Day #361Title: Relic Of The Cold War
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-135mm EF-S f3.5-5.6 IS STM
Extras: Self-timer
Notes: That’s the camera, not me! This is my Zorki-6 1960 Soviet Rangefinder 35mm camera which I hope to be using in my Retro365 project next year. I need to run a test film through it first, so that I know I can “trust” it with daily shots (after all, you can’t see the results until it’s too late to take another when using film!). An eBay bargain, it arrived from Ukraine on Christmas Eve. Perfect timing.

Day #250

Day #250Title: My Photogenic Ear
Location: Erskine, Scotland
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Extras: Self-timer
Notes: We spent a pleasant afternoon geocaching in a park near Erskine, and taking a walk across the Erskine Bridge. For some reason, Alistair seemed to find my ear very photogenic when it came time for me to make my selfie! Strange boy…

Day #149Title: Lens Envy
Location: GNPC Meeting, Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Extras: Gorillapod / Wireless remote
Notes: This evening, Motor Sport Photographer Peter de Rousset-Hall came to give a presentation at our photography club. He brought along some excellent images and showed us his kit. This is his latest acquisition, the Canon 200-400mm f/4 L IS USM with internal x1.4 extender. He kindly let us all have a look at it – but it wasn’t until I got home I found out this was over 10-grands’ worth of glass! I was eternally thankful I handed it back in one piece!

Day #70

Day #70Title: Posing In The Park
Location: Chelmer Park
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Extras: Gorillapod / Wireless Remote
Notes: Alistair is visiting from Newcastle for a few days and this afternoon we went for a little walk in Chelmer Park when the sun came out. It’s dried up a lot since my last visit when walking on any of the grass was a pretty soggy affair. He you can see me fooling about posing for a picture by the great papparazzo himself. I’m not sure I’m going to like the result though!

Day #38

Day #38Title: A Decade In Digital
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Extras: Tripod / CamRanger
Notes: Exactly ten years ago today, I went on my first photoshoot around the South Bank in London with this camera, my (then) new Canon EOS 300D. I’d had a modest digital compact camera for a couple of years, but it wasn’t really up to much. With the arrival of my first DSLR, my photography really took off in a big way. Despite being a slide and print shooter for twenty years prior to that, the digital revolution renewed my enthusiasm and creativity. The last ten years have certainly been a constant learning journey, with tens of thousands of images captured. And with my first full-frame DSLR, the EOS 5D MkIII now delivers quality which would have been unthinkable a mere decade ago. The next installment for Treasure Hunt Theme #2 – In The Frame – February.
