Title: Ghost In The Machine
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Extras: Tripod / CamRanger
Notes: My mum says I live on my computer. What she doesn’t realise is that sometimes I feel like I’m actually trapped in my computer! This is an image conceived as part of my Creative Photography course homework. Having drawn a mind map about me, one of the key facts which emerged (which was no surprise) is that I’m a computer geek. Once the germ of the idea was born, we were then asked to sketch out the main aspects of the image we wanted to produce. It was actually quite difficult to execute the initial shot – me with my nose pressed against some glass. I used a cupboard door in my study but that meant having my back to the window and all I got was a bad silhouette. So I also used a couple of flashes placed each side, bounced off the ceiling to balance the exposure on me, with the blown-out curtains behind. Once that was done I set the image as the desktop background for my laptop and re-photographed it in the studio (using natural light from a window). I think I got pretty close to my initial vision, so I’m quite pleased with the final result. It also fits the current 52 Weeks theme – Windows, albeit in a slightly left-field way!

Title: Teeny Tiny Cache
Location: Greensted Church, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Extras: Mini tripod
Notes: It was another sunny day so I headed over to Greensted and Ongar for a 6.5 mile geocaching ramble. My first find was this tiny little “ammo” box at Greensted Church. Again there was plenty of mud around, but with my trusty wellies I slurped about but didn’t suffer any mishaps!

Title: Speaker’s Preparation
Location: The Fold, Billericay, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Extras: Tripod / CamRanger
Notes: This evening I was giving a presentation at Photofold Camera Club about my month-long holiday in Japan in 2012. You can see me arranging the a few bits and pieces I had brought along for them to look at during the interval, as well as making sure my laptop slides were working. I thought it would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #47 – In The Limelight.

Title: Hoofprints
Location: Herongate, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Extras: None
Notes: I went for a very muddy geocaching walk today, 5 miles around the footpaths of Herongate and Ingrave. Despite the mud, my trusty wellies kept my feet dry. I spotted these hoofprints along a bridleway and thought they made a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #14 – Animal Tracks.
