Day #2177

Day #2177Title: The Barn
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 100D / 18-55mm EF f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
Notes: Today I visited this lovely Essex barn which is in the process of being renovated and turned into a new arts centre, gallery and workshop space in Great Notley. I went with a couple of friends from GNPC to chat to Ruth, the lady who runs the project, about future photographic collaborations for 2014. The barn isn’t quite finished yet, but the opening date is set for early in the new year. All exciting stuff! And it had to be my picture of the day for today.

Day #2124Title: Golden Rivulets
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: After a lack-lustre photo walk in Great Notley Country Park this afternoon, I thought I would have to choose one of the images I made then as picture of the day, but the thought wasn’t filling me with much enthusiasm. This evening, after my photo club meeting, I noticed the moisture patterns on the roof of my car, lit by the nearby street lights. Much better.

Day #2110Title: You Made Us JUMP!
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 17-40mm EF f/4 L USM
Strobist: 5 x YN560 from in front, bare @ full power
Notes: This evening was Strobist night at GNPC – we were asked to get into small groups and go out locally to make a shot with flash. Neil, Rob and I decided to do a jump shot. This was our best take, amid much laughing and re-takes – great fun and a good way to learn. I was able to use all 5 of my Yongnuo flashes for this one, arranged in an arc in front of us. The camera was on a long exposure of about 10″; the flashes were fired manually via the wireless trigger in my hand as we jumped.

Day #1962Title: King William IV Pub
Location: Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: A grab shot late at night as I was leaving the pub after our Club committee meeting and social drinks this evening. Angus the landlord is lurking off to the right, blissfully unaware that he’s in shot, thanks to my fisheye lens. Pub bars taken with the fisheye may become an occasional series… the research will be fun if nothing else!
