Notes: This is my Hornby OO gauge model of Mallard, the A4 Pacific designed by Sir Nigel Gresley which holds the record for the fastest steam engine in history. 75 years ago today, she clocked up 126mph and has never been beaten since. When I visited the National Railway Museum in York a couple of years ago, I made the commemorative plaque on the side of the boiler my picture for Day #1316. Today the NRM has gathered the remaining six A4 Pacifics together to commemorate this great event, including having two shipped over from the USA especially for the occasion. It would be great to see them all together, but sadly I can’t get to York within the next fortnight while they are on display!
