Title: The Ghost Of Bateman’s Tower
Location: Brightlingsea, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: I spent a lovely couple of hours in Brightlingsea this evening, catching a gorgeous sunset and waving my light sabre around. It doesn’t get much better than this. Read more about my light painting adventures.

Title: Matsumoto Castle
Location: Matsumoto, Japan
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 10-22mm EF-S f/3.5-4.5 USM
Notes: After a very early start to attend a Buddhist ceremony at the Zenkō-ji temple just after first light this morning, we enjoyed a Monk’s breakfast at our lodgings then packed our bags once more to move on. Our first stop was Yudanaka Onsen to visit the Snow Monkeys (Japanese Macaques) which bathe in the hot spring pools. Lunch was taken in the charming little town of Obuse before getting the train to Matsumoto. The afternoon was free for us to wander, and I set off for the foreboding Castle for a look around. The inside was pretty dark and menacing, but I arrived at this classic viewpoint of the outside just as the sun was bathing it in some golden light. Read more about my day.

Location: Ingatestone Station
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 IOS
Notes: July has carried on where June left off – more heavy rain! This scene presented itself when I got off the train this evening. I thought it would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #60 – Urban Fragments.

Title: La Nuit Parisienne
Location: Ile des Cygnes, Paris
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Who’s crazy idea was it to walk around Paris all night taking photos? Not mine, but I seemed to think it was a good one! So off we set this afternoon with a dozen other folks from the London Flickr Meetups group, arriving in Paris Gare du Nord around 8pm. We caught the Métro out to La Défense for sunset – not that we saw it as it was too cloudy! Then back to the centre of Paris on the RER. This was our second stop of the evening at the Ile des Cygnes, looking towards the Eiffel Tower. It was a very long night and this was just the start… more in tomorrow’s blog!

Location: BBC Television Centre

Notes: I found a better view of the 7th floor balcony reflected in yesterday’s shot. I loved the reflections in the many windows.
