Title: Just A Leaf
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: I’ve been chained to my desk for most of the day, nose to the grindstone. During a brief non-raining respite to make a cuppa this afternoon, through the kitchen window I noticed this little leaf on the decking outside. I just had to nip out to make a picture.

Title: Turning Leaf Sumak
Location: The Flitch Way, Rayne
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: I was out having a little potter along the Flitch Way in Rayne this afternoon, when I spotted the wonderful autumnal colours of these Sumak leaves. The tree has always been one of my favourites, it provides spectacular colour this time of year. So I went in close with the macro lens to capture it in all its glory.

Notes: Another little roam in the woods this morning and I made this image of a decaying leaf. I loved the colour contrast and shapes.

Title: Amanita Muscaria
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm EF f/2.8 L IS USM
Notes: This afternoon I went to Galleywood Common on the hunt for some fungi to photograph with my new 100mm macro lens. I have to say, it’s a cracker, I’m very pleased with the results. And I was glad to find a reasonable specimen of Fly Agaric looking for all the world like the classic cartoon toadstool.

Title: After Autumn Rain
Location: Mark’s Hall, Coggeshall
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 45-200mm f/4-5.6 IOS
Notes: Despite the potential for rain, we decided to head out to Mark’s Hall for the October Chelmsford Photowalk. We didn’t get wet (it rained while we were driving there) but the light was mainly grey and flat. The sun came out for about 20 minutes at one point, during which we ran round finding as many things to photograph as possible. These amazing pinky red leaves glistening with raindrops caught my eye.

Title: Ragged Fungi
Location: Theydon Mount
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: I was out geocaching today and found these fungi in a churchyard at Theydon Mount. They were a bit ragged, but the only specimens I’ve seen so far this autumn.

Location: White City, London
Camera: Canon PowerShot G12
Notes: A low angle gives a different perspective on a familiar scene. I thought this would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #70 – Worm’s Eye View.
