Day #1418 Title: Candy Crown
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Strobist: 1 x YN560 from left with DIY gridded snoot @ 1/64; 1 x YN560 from behind through perspex with DIY softbox @ 1/64; timed with CameraAxe5 and Valve sensor
Notes: I spent the evening happily playing with crowns and water splashes again. I was experimenting with different mixes in the dropper and drop pool. This is water thickened with Xanthan gum and blue food colouring, dropped into a small pool of double cream mixed with red food colouring. I liked the colour and texture combinations.

Day #1286 Title: Crowning Glory
Location: At home

Strobist: 1 x YN560 Speedlite from behind, with DIY softbox @ 1/16, through perspex background; 1 x YN560 from camera right with DIY gridded snoot @ 1/64
Notes: I’ve been trying to photograph some crowns with my water splashes but wasn’t getting any from the attempts I’ve had before. So I had another go this evening. Many shots later, I got a few satisfactory images. This was the best. How it was done.
