Day #1053

Day #1053Title: The Old Toll Bridge
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After last night’s evening at Steyning Camera Club, I was very glad of the hospitality of Malcolm and his wife Guida, which meant I avoided a 90-mile drive home in the dark. This morning, I took the opportunity to enjoy some time with Ken over coffee and a bacon sandwich in Shoreham-by-Sea. Conversations with Ken are always thought-provoking, not just about photography but about philosophy and life in general. We decided to take a little stroll to walk off the bacon and arrived at the Old Toll Bridge (actually not so old, as it was completely refurbished in 2008) just as this gent was walking his dog across it.

Day #1052

Day #1052Title: Bows
Location: Southwick
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I drove down to West Sussex today as I was booked to judge a print competition at Steyning Camera Club this evening, on the recommendation of fellow Photo-A-Day veteran Ken Scott. Arriving during the afternoon, I went for a potter along the canal at nearby Southwick and found the bows of this boat with its peeling paint. After an excellent dinner in Shoreham with the club’s programme secretary Malcolm Bull, the evening itself went well and I got some very positive feedback from the club members, whose work I greatly enjoyed seeing.
