Day #910

Day #910 Title: London Hill – June
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I realised in a bit of a panic that I hadn’t taken June’s shot of London Hill. So I popped out this evening to rectify the situation. Thought I would give it a bit of Orton, just to be different. I remembered how vicious the nettles are, so dressed appropriately this time!

Day #875 Title: London Hill – May
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I realised today that I was beginning to run out of May for this month’s London Hill shot. So this afternoon, I ventured forth in the baking sun to see what I could get. The weather had obviously brought out the Convertible crowd, as this Vauxhall shows. I can’t believe how much the vegetation has grown in five weeks – and was beginning to regret wearing cut off trousers and sandals when I saw the nettles by the verge! Still, I managed to find a sting-free location to stand for the shot. Treasure Hunt Theme 5 – Scenic Location – May.

Day #838Title: London Hill – April
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I noticed it was a foggy start to the day, despite bright blue skies later on. So I made the effort to visit London Hill for April’s image on the way to the station for work this morning. A good addition for Treasure Hunt Theme 04 – Scenic Location, April.

Day #816Title: London Hill – March
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: It’s been a while since I’ve taken London Hill, and I was beginning to run out of March for this month’s shot. So I was pleased that this evening, the weather was a little better to make a dusk shot at the location. I waited around for some traffic to come down the hill and used a 6 second exposure to capture the trails made by the brakelights as it passed. So this is my effort for Treasure Hunt Theme 03 – Scenic Location, March.

Day #738 Title: London Hill – January
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: The lure of a little sunshine got me out of the house this morning. I took my usual 3-mile route up to Galleywood Common and  back, venturing out on foot rather than being daft enough to go in the car – besides, it was buried anyway! Our new 365-2010 group have a Treasure Hunt going, and inspired by Erasmus T’s great set of an English Oak from last year, one of the suggestions is to revisit the same location every month during this year to document how the seasons change. I’ve photographed London Hill before, and thought it would make a great repeat location as it’s quite close by and I really enjoy that sweeping curve of road which leads you into the picture. I particularly wanted to catch the wintry snow scene here for my January version.
