Day #945

Day #945 Title: Curvilinear
Location: Battlesbridge
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: This evening I took a trip down to Battlesbridge to see if I could get any decent shots for the day. When I first arrived, it looked like the light had gone, and I was just about to turn around and go home when the sun appeared low on the horizon through a chink in the clouds. I was drawn to the shadows it cast on the pavement, and the way the setting sun emphasised the orange railings on the bridge. How do you get a straight line casting a curved shadow? It’s because the path has a slight hump over the bridge!

Day #893 Title: Thistle Experiment
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I have finally succumbed to an upgrade of DSLR, my 30D having done 3 hard years’ labour and it’s looking a little the worse for wear. I had been weighing up my options and eventually decided on the Canon EOS 7D. It arrived this morning. I was initially disappointed (only with the weather!) that I could not go out to play as it was dreary and cold. But by the afternoon things had perked up and I nipped into town to buy a new neck strap for it, and take a wander around. This is a thistle growing by the river, with a background of one of the life belts by the water. It’s straight out of the camera. I think I’m going to enjoy using this!

Day #766 Title: Containment
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I’m a sucker for coloured stationery. So when I found this little perspex pot in the local Paperchase store at the weekend, I knew I had to buy it! And I was very pleased with the results which I’d seen in my mind’s eye in the shop. It looks like the orange spot contagion has been contained within the bounds of the box. A great subject for Treasure Hunt Theme #23 Containers.
