Title: A Splash Of Red
Location: Cricklewood, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I went to a friend’s BBQ this afternoon, and found this colouful flower in a shady corner of the garden. No idea what it is, but it looked good against the background of Hosta leaves and wet pebbles.

Title: The Heart Of The Matter
Location: Writtle College
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I went to a networking event at Writtle College today and was invited to wander around their very well-kept gardens afterwards. They are renowned as a teaching college specialising in agriculture and horticulture. Alan Titchmarsh was one of their patrons from 2001-2004. I thought this lovely rose would make a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #69 – Elegant.

Title: Flatford Window
Location: Flatford Mill
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: We set off home from our weekend in Suffolk and decided to stop off at Flatford on the way past to look at the river and Willy Lott’s Cottage – in the heart of Constable Country. Unfortunately, the weather was less than kind to us (in a torrential sort of way) and so we ended up spending some time in the tea shop and museum sheltering from the downpour. These Geraniums were in a pot on the windowsill inside the Constable Museum. They made a good find for Treasure Hunt Theme #34: Through The Window.

Title: U Is For Underneath
Location: Writtle
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I enjoyed a photowalk with a couple of Flickr friends this morning, on footpaths around Writtle. We decided to attempt an A-Z as we were going around, and this was my favourite of the set.

Title: Lesser Stitchwort
Location: Galleywood Common
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: After a long day in front of the computer, I took a quick walk on Galleywood Common this evening. I found all sorts of little flowers which are easily missed unless you look hard. I’ve photographed Greater Stitchwort on Day #862, but this little fellow, about 10mm across, is the Lesser variety. I had to get down on hands and knees to get close enough for this shot.

Title: Pollen Sweeper
Location: Buttsbury Ford, Ingatestone
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: This evening I enjoyed a quick stroll to Buttsbury Ford. There were lots of insects buzzing about, and this busy worker was hoovering up the pollen like it had gone out of fashion.

Title: Centrepiece
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I spent a very hot day in the garden, mowing foot-high grass and hacking down the weeds. But I found time to take a few pictures along the way. This flower on the Clematis Montana is pretty much straight out of camera. I used the 60mm macro lens to go in close.
