Title: Shifting Light
Location: PayPal Offices, Richmond, London
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Today was Day 1 of CharityHack 2010 at PayPal’s offices in Richmond. Lots of geeks were invited along to put together some great websites focussing on helping charities. As I was stuck in front of my computer for most of the day, I didn’t get out to take many pictures. This was a view out of one of the windows onto the street – where strange shapes and shadows shifted constantly throughout the day.

Title: Urban Fragment #7
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I haven’t done any Urban Fragments recently, but I was attracted to the mottled paint job on this sign next to the Canal. It’s for the National Cycle Network, route 1 of which runs alongside the water.

Title: Handy
Location: Cambridge
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: I spent the day at Barcamb3 in Cambridge, held at the offices of software development company Red Gate. Each employee has a hand print on one wall, and I liked this rather attractive multi-coloured example from Elizabeth. I thought it would also make a good addition to the Treasure Hunt Theme 24: Hands.

Title: 100s & 1000s
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I’m giving a talk on Macro Photography tomorrow, so I was taking a few shots in the kitchen to illustrate my points. Had to be careful not to spill these little blighters!

Title: The Underwater Garden
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: We were supposed to be going out on a local Flickr walk today, but it was pouring down yet again, so we decided to give it a miss. Instead, I thought I would have a go at some shots dropping food colouring into water. I’ve been meaning to try this out for a while, and it was a lot more difficult than it looked! I took over 200 imges, and selected a dozen or so, but this was the one I liked best. I might well write a blog post about how it was done, if I get some time soon. Incidentally, this is effectively upside down – but I thought the swirls looked like plants growing in a garden this way up. A good shot for Treasure Hunt theme 62: Underwater.

Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: It’s Galileo‘s Birthday today, so here’s a shot of my Galileo Thermometer. Yes, I’ve done it before on Day #194 but not this close up. I’m giving a new macro lens a few tests before deciding if I will buy it from a friend.

Title: Lilac & Lime
Location: Wethersfield, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: These beautiful flowers were in the office of a friend and I noticed them when I went to visit her today for a meeting. I love the contrast in colours between the delicate lilac and the acid green.
