Day #1083

Day #1083Title: Here We Go Again!
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: More snow returns to the South East, and allegedly there will be another fall overnight. I’m hoping to go on a snowy photoshoot tomorrow, let’s see how that goes! In the meantime, I was cowardly and stuck the camera out of the kitchen window for this shot. Brrr! It was cold!

Day #1045

Day #1045Title: Hylands House
Location: Hylands Park, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I’ve been meaning to photograph Hylands House for months, for the Treasure Hunt Theme #75 – Your Nearest Tourist Attraction, but there was always a good excuse or better shot elsewhere. It’s a mere 1.3 miles from my house, as the crow flies. Today, there was some brilliant sunshine promised – I just had to wait about half an hour for it to break through the clouds. I think I was well rewarded. The magnificent early Georgian building was built in 1730 and is open to the public on limited days, but the 574 acres of parkland are open throughout the year. It’s best avoided during August, however, when there are tens of thousands of music lovers who descend on the park for the annual V Festival. It also takes a few weeks to prepare the park beforehand, and clear it up again afterwards!

Day #906 Title: Say Cheese!
Location: Baroosh, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GF1 / 20mm EF f/1.7
Notes: Today we had the first meeting of a new networking group I’ve set up for Essex Web Developers. We’re all freelancers or small business owners and it was great to get together for networking coffee and cake. It was an excellent turnout with 10 people coming along from all parts of the county and beyond. Thanks for attending, and hope to see you all next month!

Day #893 Title: Thistle Experiment
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 60mm EF-S f/2.8 USM
Notes: I have finally succumbed to an upgrade of DSLR, my 30D having done 3 hard years’ labour and it’s looking a little the worse for wear. I had been weighing up my options and eventually decided on the Canon EOS 7D. It arrived this morning. I was initially disappointed (only with the weather!) that I could not go out to play as it was dreary and cold. But by the afternoon things had perked up and I nipped into town to buy a new neck strap for it, and take a wander around. This is a thistle growing by the river, with a background of one of the life belts by the water. It’s straight out of the camera. I think I’m going to enjoy using this!
