Title: High Street Reflections
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8
Notes: I survived two trips into town today, madness I know. But I needed something for tomorrow to go with The Present™ and the first one I bought was not the right size when I got it home. So I had to make another lightining raid late in the afternoon for a refund, and search out an alternative which actually turned out to be much better. And so did my photography – on the first trip, the weather was grey and horrible and I didn’t take a single frame. But later on, the dusk was fallling and some nice lights were on in the High Street. I have photographed this window before, on Day #65, but it never hurts to revist things, you can often make a different shot. And with that, we have reached the end of another year. Will you join me as I continue my journey through 2010?

Day #694
Title: Table Centre
Location: Mulberry House Hotel, Ongar
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I was having a lunchtime meeting today in Ongar and noticed these attractive silk flowers in the centre of the table. I also liked the condensation on the ice bucket.

Title: Coming In To Land
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: Another day which dawned without much promise weather-wise – the light was dull and the sky white for the most part. But in this instance, I managed to catch some seagulls coming in to land by some swans as they were being fed some bread in Central Park, framing it without any intrusive sky in shot.

Title: Making Waves
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Reflections are always more interesting when they are broken up by a few ripples. Today, I found an obliging duck who produced some rather nice patterns in the water by paddling furiously below the surface.

Title: 98.6% Al
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: This week’s 52Themes2009 topic is Elements. Quite a few folks have already interpreted this as the ancient elements Earth, Air, Fire & Water. But I covered those last year and didn’t want to repeat myself. So I was looking around the house to find some of the modern scientific elements to photograph. Looking at the box of Aluminium foil, I was surprised to learn that it’s only 98.6% Al, but also contains Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Si, Sn and Zn.

Title: Prism Vision
Location: City University, Islington
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I spent this afternoon at City University for the second meeting of Standards.Next, which was an excellent set of talks on Cognition & Accessibility on the web. This image caught my eye between sessions – it’s one of those horrible fluorescent lights, but I did like the reflection of someone’s presentation slides in the shiny metal reflectors.
