Day #681

Day #681 Title: Centre Of Attention
Location: Westfield, Shepherds Bush
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I met my former team leader Veronica today, as another 40@40 event. We have both worked in Shepherds Bush for years, and while I was around there were only a few paltry shops to choose from for getting anything to eat. Since I left the BBC/Siemens, they have built Westfield, the biggest shopping centre in Europe, right by Television Centre.  So we had plenty of options of what to eat for lunch!

Day #673 Title: Boffoonery
Location: Bloomsbury Theatre
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I enjoyed another evening for 40@40 with friend Alan today. We started off with a lovely Thai dinner and then saw the Boffoonery Comedy benefit gig for Bletchley Park at the Bloomsbury Theatre. It was a great wheeze 😉

Day #654 Title: James Smith & Sons, Umbrella Merchants
Location: New Oxford Street, London
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Not many opportunities for pictures today, but I passed this rather fine umbrella merchants on the way from a meeting to the pub this evening. I’ve seen it before but couldn’t remember where it was until I stumbled across it again. Thankfully, I didn’t need their services.

Day #643 Title: Old Father Thames
Location: Westminster, London
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Another trip to London today, this time to meet photographer friend Paulo for a 40@40. We started off in Holborn and walked down to the river. Originally we wanted to go on a London Duck Tour but they were all booked up, so we took a regular boat from the London Eye to Tower Bridge instead. Finally, we had a potter around the largely deserted City, finishing up at Liverpool Street. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day, and we were grateful for the good weather too.

Day #621

Day #621 Title: Wembley Awayday
Location: Wembley, London
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8
Notes: I haven’t been to see a rugby game for a while now, so I was really looking forward to going to Wembley [a venue more commonly used for football or Rugby League] with rugby-loving friend Fiona to see Saracens vs Northampton Saints. Sarries normally play at Vicarage Road, Watford, so the visit to Wembley was quite a treat for us and the 44,830 other spectators who turned up! The first half was pretty mundane, but after what we can only assume was a good dressing room talking-to at half time, both teams came out in the second half with all guns blazing. Sarries managed to survive a late assault by the Saints and win the game 19-16. A great afternoon all round and an enjoyable 40@40 event. Unfortunately, I didn’t take my long lens as I wasn’t too sure if I would be able to take any pictures inside the stadium, so this was a quick grab shot of the half time entertainments with the 50mm lens.

Day #598

Day #598 Title: Walking In My Mind
Location: South Bank, London
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I spent a great afternoon wandering the South Bank with my friend Ann, swapping freelance and photography tips, as another of my 40@40 events. Despite the unpromising weather initially, the sun came out for us and this image really struck me because of the contrast in colours against the normally drab concrete around the QEII Hall. The trees were also dressed up in red and white polka dots, which was rather fancy!
