Day #301

Day #301Title: The Heart Of A Lily
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: I nearly missed taking a shot today! Made it by about 20 minutes, after having had a very busy day and then getting home just after 11pm to realise I’d still not taken anything. The lovely  bouquet I got for judging the other day was looking a little bit sad, but I managed to home in on one lily and take a few macro shots of its central form. Then I remembered I’d not changed my camera back to GMT, so it nearly got recorded as being taken on 28th after all!

Day #267

Day #267Title: Orchid Impression
Location: Ingatestone
Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact
Notes: After a day at the computer, I realised I was short of a picture for today. But this evening, I went to a committee meeting at a club member’s house in Ingatestone. They had some rather nice silk orchids – so having taken a quick picture I then had a play with the filter gallery to jazz things up a bit.

Day #217

Day #217Title: Sunflower Shadows
Location: Writtle
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
On my way home from Cambridge the other day, I noticed that the annual field of Pick Your Own sunflowers was growing well, along the A1060 just north of Writtle. This morning, I took a quick trip out there again, with the promise of blue skies. The sun was quite strong, making nice shadows on the sunflower head, and bringing the yellow colour into sharp contrast against the sky. I took some wider shots of the field too, but liked this closeup the best.

Day #180

Day #180Title: A Bit Of Passion
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: The passion flower over my back gate is beginning to flower now, and looks quite sculptural in detail. It’s always a devil to get a big enough depth of field to keep all of it sharp, so this time I’ve mainly concentrated on the central portion and petals, and let the stamen go a little bit fuzzy.
