Super article Caz, I'll definitely point any potential judges in the direction of this article if I get asked "what do I need to do to become a good judge".

How right you are regarding how hard it is to get timing to perfection, I've cracked it now but I really struggled at first. Now the hardest part for me is language, I just don't have the command of the English language that I'd like to have. I've listened to some judges and their rich descriptions would earn them a prize in the best literacy circles. Oh to be like them.

Thanks Caz, this is exactly what I'm struggling with at the moment. I've a small studio set-up in the garage and once I fill it with model(s) lighting always seems complicated. Simple structures aren't too bad (Lego men in a table top studio) but people are more difficult.

Ooh! Nice birthday gift. I tried the Olympus version in a shop but couldn't get on with holding in front of my face. Aparently the new one has an optional EVF which might suit me more.

Thank you for your wonderful ideas and your tips on Project 365. I have just started this on the 1st of December and am having fun. I will be getting a Nikon D5000 for Christmas. As I am new to photography I am very excited and look everywhere to get help. Thanks for being there.

Hi Caz,

Your blog is the best I've ever seen. Simple approach, but full-packed. There is no other easy way for me to learn and get even more interested in Photography, than reading all what you got there. Everything seems to be very interesting. Thanks for all your input. I still have a lot of reading to do.. Keep posting!

Best regards,

hi Caz, your blog is very interesting and helpful. Though I am a beginner in photography and really really interested in capture good photo, especially portrait photos with blur effect at the background. But I only have Canon ixus 850 IS at the moment. I've read your 2 tutorials about depth of field, but I still can not manage how I can do it with my canon. Aperture in that camera is confusing. Is it the same as exposure? if it was, the F-number is also confusing. Is there any chance if you can help me? will bu much appreciated. Thanks :)
