Title: Crewed By Pigeons
Location: Heybridge Basin, Maldon
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a business meeting at lunch time, I decided to stop off for a quick walk at Heybridge Basin to get some fresh air and walk off lunch! The marina was full of colourful boats, but this old wreck in the estuary also caught my eye. It doesn’t look very seaworthy – and only the pigeons dared stand on board.

Title: Barking
Location: Holybred Wood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I managed to take a quick drive out for some photos today, just as the sun came out. This was a piece of bark in Holybred Wood, Little Baddow.

Title: Disposable
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: After the last few days of sunshine, today dawned grey and muggy. I was poking around the house looking for something to take when I came across this set of wooden cutlery. I’ve no idea where I got them, but thought they would look good against a wooden chopping board. I liked the grain which came out, once I’d done a bit of fiddling with Photoshop.

Title: Restoration
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I recently won this old Printers Type Tray in an eBay auction (for cheap!). So I spent some of the afternoon scraping out the dirty paper from each compartment (stuck down with years of ink and grime) and cleaning it. Dull work, but I’m still very tired after my weekend so I wasn’t up to doing anything more exerting! And tomorrow I’m off to Dorset for a few days’ holiday, so I was conserving my energy.

Title: Topography
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: A very busy day today, with various meetings and packing for my weekend away. This was a hurried shot at home before I forgot to take something. I turned this candlestick at school when I was about 13!

Title: Tiny Treasures
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube / macro ring flash
Notes: Although I managed to get out for a walk this morning, the weather was terribly dull and uninspiring. So I decided to go for a bit of table top photography this evening. These exquisite little turned vases are 1/12th scale – the middle one is about as tall as a regular paper clip. And it fits in rather nicely with this week’s theme, Flash Photography.
