Title: Fyne Dining
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Today was the last of my 40@40 events! I went with friend Glynis for a lovely seafood lunch at the local Loch Fyne restaurant in Chelmsford. It’s been there a while, I gather, but I only just discovered it a few weeks ago. The sun was out and although it was too cold to sit outside, I enjoyed the shadows on the steps, so this is my image for the day.

Title: Projected Shadow
Location: Bush End, near Takely
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: You can be forgiven for thinking that I spend a lot of time hanging around graveyards. I know I’ve posted pictures from two in the last three days, but that’s purely co-incidence! Today I found myself passing the very pleasant All Saints Church at Bush End. The architecture and round tower attracted me to stop in the first place. But once I was wandering around, I noticed how the fading evening sun was projecting a giant shadow from one monument onto another gravestone. It was only fleeting – 5 minutes later and it had sunk too low. Good job I caught it when I did.

Title: The House On The Lake
Location: Wivenhoe Park, near Colchester
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The forecast promised a fairly dull day, but the morning brought a few shafts of light poking between the clouds. Staying with my parents for the weekend, I noticed that there were some new geocaches set in Wivenhoe Park, the grounds of the University of Essex. Dad used to work there for years, and so I had been quite familiar with the place, but I hadn’t been for a look round in ages. I had a walk round most of the grounds and this image was close to the end of my stroll. It’s the Vice-Chancellor’s residence on one of the lakes in the Park. A duck swam off to provide some ripples in the water, and I framed the scene with the as-yet leafless willows.
