Title: Icescape
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: OK, more frost and ice. This time just outside the back door. You don’t have to go far for an interesting shot…

Title: Christmas Window
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Some of the neighbours have gone rather overboard with their flashing light displays in the front window. A straight shot produces something rather crass, but a lot of defocussed bokeh is quite nice.

Title: Glass Bubbles
Location: IBM, South Bank
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: This evening we were setting up for BarCamp London7 at IBM’s offices on the South Bank. This was a rather interesting piece of glass outside one of the conference rooms.

Title: Swirls
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: Before leaving Anna’s this morning, it was great to have coffee with her mum and dad Hazel & Peter. They moved in next door to my parents when I was about 2, and stayed for nearly 20 years, and I grew up with them around. They moved to Devon and now Someset, and I haven’t seen them in a very long time, so it was really nice to catch up with them before heading home. This image was just one which I saw when I got home, it’s a box with a swirly hologram pattern on the top.

Title: 98.6% Al
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: This week’s 52Themes2009 topic is Elements. Quite a few folks have already interpreted this as the ancient elements Earth, Air, Fire & Water. But I covered those last year and didn’t want to repeat myself. So I was looking around the house to find some of the modern scientific elements to photograph. Looking at the box of Aluminium foil, I was surprised to learn that it’s only 98.6% Al, but also contains Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Si, Sn and Zn.
