Title: Breakthrough
Location: Burnham-on-Crouch
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I had intended to take a trip to Maldon for the annual Mud Race today, but I got half way there and the traffic was silly, so I detoured to Burnham instead. The sun came out as I walked along the promenade, breaking through the clouds. I took a few pictures and then enjoyed a nice cup of tea and a toasted teacake in a little café looking at the water.

Title: Dribble
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The snow is slowly melting now – the stage which I hate – and since I was busy at home all day, I had to resort to another staple – a shot of the car. It’s been rather useful over the past 2 years: Day #49, Day #302, Day #347, Day #371 and Day #400! This time, I was really pleased to catch part of the snow mid-drip.

Title: By The Great Ouse
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Four of us from GNPC had a rather enjoyable day out in Ely today, despite pouring rain first thing, the weather perked up immensely and we got some good photographic opportunities. We spent quite some time in the Cathedral, and had a good walk along the river too. This fisherman was quietly ensconced on the banks with a big brolly to shield him from the wind.

Title: Esso
Location: Wansford, Peterborough
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: After a bit of a lie-in this morning, I drove home from Leeds. The light was lovely in the afternoon as I reached Wansford, so I decided to stop briefly at the Nene Valley Railway. This is one of their old tankers on the turntable in the yard.

Title: King Of The Castle
Location: Blackpool
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: After an excellent party on Saturday night at BarCamp Blackpool, our original plan was to go on the rollercoasters at the Pleasure Beach today. But nobody was feeling very lively! Instead, Alistair and I decided to hire a couple of bikes and take a ride to find some geocaches. Just as we started pedalling, it started raining. We did over 10 miles in the end, and enjoyed ourselves despite getting wet. This is a view near St Anne’s where Alistair decided to pose with our trusty yellow steeds.

Title: Crewed By Pigeons
Location: Heybridge Basin, Maldon
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a business meeting at lunch time, I decided to stop off for a quick walk at Heybridge Basin to get some fresh air and walk off lunch! The marina was full of colourful boats, but this old wreck in the estuary also caught my eye. It doesn’t look very seaworthy – and only the pigeons dared stand on board.

Title: The Long Drive Home
Location: A12, Brentwood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I went into London this evening for a planning meeting for BarCampLondon, this time as a passenger in my friend’s car. It was a horrible evening for going anywhere, with drizzly rain and miserable grey clouds. I have to say that when I see a long queue of traffic in the other direction, I do feel a bit smug sometimes. But on this occasion, I felt rather sorry for the commuters heading home from a day at work. Traffic jams seem to be one of the curses of modern day living – rather conveniently fitting in with this week’s 52Themes2009 subject.
