Title: Through The Mists
Location: Hylands Park
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: On the way to Mum & Dad’s for Christmas, I noticed the mists hanging low on the ground in Hylands Park, so took a short walk to make some pictures before continuing my journey.

Title: Icescape
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: OK, more frost and ice. This time just outside the back door. You don’t have to go far for an interesting shot…

Title: Banksie’s Pigeons
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I was in town for a meeting today, and used a short cut alleyway between the High Street and a local car park. I’ve been that way before, but not very often. Today I noticed these two Banksie-esque pigeons cooing to each other on the wall. Most people just didn’t notice them, but that’s what the Photo A Day does for you – makes you see things you would otherwise pass by oblivious.

Title: Fingers Of Frost
Location: Noak Bridge Nature Reserve, Basildon
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: We had a very heavy frost overnight, and in some places, it hung around all day where the sun didn’t shine. I had to take the car for an MOT and service early this morning, and spent some time in Gloucester Park and Noak Bridge Nature Reserve in Basildon while I was waiting for it. These leaves were in a dim corner of the Nature Reserve and were still perfectly preserved with their icy coating.

Title: Mono Textures
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Spent the day with a friend and we helped each other sort out various tech problems we were having. Very productive but tiring. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to go out at sunset (what we saw from the window was nice!) and so this is all I managed to take. By the time she went home, my eyes were beginning to see things a little bit funny, so I played about with this to make it more exciting.

Title: Fluid Shadows
Location: Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM
Notes: I managed to catch some briefly interesting light in town this lunchtime, after a morning meeting. This is down by a new walkway along the River Chelmer.

Title: Inukshuk Shadows
Location: At home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: A busy day at home today, and the weather was horrible for most of it. I was casting around looking for something new to photograph when I found a little model of an Inuit Inukshuk on a shelf. I used the office spotlights to illuminate it and cast a shadow on my desk.
