Title: Rowhedge Afternoon
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact
Notes: The light was fairly changeable today, but I was lucky to catch this rather nice highlight on the water of the River Colne, having taken a walk along the Wivenhoe Trail this afternoon. At a bend in the river, there is a good view of the village of Rowhedge across the water.

Title: The Seeds Have Flown
Location: Padham’s Green
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I was able to take a walk late this afternoon, after a meeting in Ingatestone. The sun had come out and I enjoyed the fresh air whilst looking for another geocache in the area. As I made my way along a bridleway, I found these long-gone seed heads standing out against the blue sky.

Title: The Nights Are Drawing in
Location: Galleywood
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Had to pop to the shops this evening on the way home from a client meeting. By the time I was heading home, it was just after seven, but the sun was sinking low already. A reminder that we’re not far off the autumnal equinox, and then the gentle slide towards dark nights once more.

Title: Lights In The Sky
Location: Moulsham Mill, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I admit it. This is probably my worst photo so far of the year. But you haven’t seen the others I took today. Oh dear… let’s hope tomorrow improves!

Title: Walk The Dog
Location: Newmarket
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I visited friends who live near Newmarket today. When I set off from home, the weather was terrible but by the time I arrived at lunchtime, the sun had come out. We went for a walk around the village where they live, which is surrounded by Stud farms. After a pleasant lunch in the garden and lots of catching up, I set off for home around six. By this time, a bank of cloud was gathering, and as I passed Newmarket racecourse there was just enough light to catch the top of the grandstand in the distance. A few folks were enjoying the evening sun, walking their dog and flying a kite.

Title: At The Crossroads
Location: Herongate
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I was supposed to visit a friend’s photographic exhibition in Whitstable today, but the Bank Holiday/road works traffic was so bad on the M25, that I bailed out at Thurrock and came back via the A13 and A128 to Brentwood. Seeing as the weather was so nice, I stopped for a walk around Herongate and Thorndon Park and enjoyed an ice cream in the visitors’ centre.

Title: Ready For Harvest
Location: Great Baddow
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Managed to catch a bit of sunshine this evening during a quick trip out to Great Baddow for some pictures. The puddle added a little bit of interest in the foreground.
