Title: Rowhedge Afternoon
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact
Notes: The light was fairly changeable today, but I was lucky to catch this rather nice highlight on the water of the River Colne, having taken a walk along the Wivenhoe Trail this afternoon. At a bend in the river, there is a good view of the village of Rowhedge across the water.

Title: Redeye
Location: Maldon
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I spent the afternoon at a friend’s house in Witham, and realised it was only a stone’s throw from Maldon via the back roads, so I made a detour to the Hythe on my way home. An old Thames barge was coming up the Blackwater to moor and I tracked its progress as the tide brought it upstream. I took plenty of regular pictures, but this one stood out as something a bit different, so that’s why I chose it for today.

Title: Tranquil Moorings
Location: Dedham
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: After a day out in Suffolk with my parents, we were cutting across country from the A12 on the way home and passed through picturesque Dedham, just as the early evening sun was hitting the boats moored on the river. A group of teenagers were playing Pooh Sticks on the bridge as I took this - proving that some, at least, aren’t so sophisticated that they can’t enjoy simple pleasures every now and then!
