Title: Plotting A Route

Notes: The sun we were promised in the forecast never materialised today. A shame, but I was busy with various jobs at home. Tomorrow, my fellow geocaching addict friend Alistair is coming over, so I spent a little time this afternoon plotting some caches we can visit. Let’s hope the sun comes out for us!

Title: Carpe Diem

Notes: I tooka quick trip over to Little Baddow and Danbury at lunchtime for some pictures. There were quite a few good ones to choose from, but this one struck a chord for the sentiment, as much as the fantastic lichen texture and glancing sunlight, which I found in the churchyard at Danbury. “Sieze The Day” is a good motto, and one thing I’ve learned from doing this project is just that: if you can, sieze the opportunity to take a picture whenever you are able, as it’s often these chance occurrences that produce some of the most memorable images. There are only 36 days left in total now. That’s just one roll of film, for those of you who remember celluloid!

Notes: I had to run a couple of errands in Billericay today, and came across this road sign, which rather amused me. It was just how I felt after a frustrating day yesterday – sometimes you know that going backwards is the only way forwards, and even that looks a little prickly! Let’s hope today is an improvement.

Title: Real Life Meets Second Life

Notes: Today, I attended the London hub of the world’s first global web conference, . It was a lot of fun, especially as it was being held at the Magic Circle HQ in Euston. Not only were various folks there in person, but there were live linkups with other hubs around the globe, as well as in Second Life. The conference continues, largely online, over the weekend. Horray for broadband!

Notes: I’ve been doing quite a bit of walking recently (not far by some standards, but I get about). And since this week’s 366 Theme is Boots, I thought I would present you with my walking boots. Didn’t have the opportunity to use them today though – I was busy at home at it was grey and grim outside

Title: Hinge & Bracket
Location: Chelmsford

Notes: I had two meetings in Chelmsford today, and I arrived quite early for the first one. So I took a brief walk along the River Can to where it meets the Chelmer by the Essex Record Office. Next to the footbridge, I found a storage unit which had metal doors, and I quite liked the texture of the metalwork and hinges. After my meetings, the day deteriorated weather-wise, so I didn’t get anything better. But I did spend an enjoyable evening in a local pub with fellow 366-er touchingthelight, who was in the area on business. Good to catch up again!

Title: At The Crossroads

Notes: I was supposed to visit a friend’s photographic exhibition in Whitstable today, but the Bank Holiday/road works traffic was so bad on the M25, that I bailed out at Thurrock and came back via the A13 and A128 to Brentwood. Seeing as the weather was so nice, I stopped for a walk around Herongate and Thorndon Park and enjoyed an ice cream in the visitors’ centre.

Title: The Eagle Has Landed

Notes: This week’s 366 theme is Toys & Games, so I dug out one of my childhood models for this shot. For those of you not accustomed to watching bad 70’s Science Fiction, this is the Dinky Toys Eagle Freighter #360 White Body/Red Thrusters (2nd release) (I’m not that much of a geek, just found the spec on the web!) from Space 1999, which I used to watch avidly as a kid. It still has all 4 nuclear waste pods and a working winch. The paintwork is in pretty good nick, and it hasn’t lost any of the plastic thrusters. I should really have taken a photo of this for Day #203 as that was the 39th anniversary of the Moon landing. Better late than never!

Title: Here’s Looking At You

Notes: Another trip out today, this time for a client meeting in Bexleyheath. It poured with rain for most of the way, but I arrived about half an hour early and took a look round a local park to kill some time. By then the rain had stopped, thankfully. This was part of the playground equipment I found in the kiddies’ swings area. It was completely deserted, and looked a little forlorn after the deluge.

Notes: It was Ingatestone CC’s Annual Exhibition today, and we displayed about 90 prints for visitors to see. This is one corner of the mono section, showing three of my four black and white efforts (all of the top row except the second from the right).
