2008 - My Year In Pictures

Title: Fractal Food!

Notes: I’ve been fascinated by Broccoli Romanesco ever since I saw a picture of it on Flickr ages ago, but haven’t been able to find any in the shops unti yesterday. So this morning, I decided to have a go at some still life, lit by natural sunlight from the window. Seems too good to eat, doesn’t it?

Notes: Having seen Erasmus T’s shot of some Euros yesterday, it reminded me that I had a set of freshly-minted coins in the cupboard which I’ve been meaning to photograph for a while. They were a real pain as it turned out - they are mounted on slightly shiny black card, behind protective plastic. An utter nightmare when you add a ring flash to the equation! Still, a bit of perseverence and a lot of cursing later, I got something reasonable. It’s a special commemorative design of the Royal Shield of Arms. I’ve seen the £1 in circulation but don’t recall seeing any of the “shrapnel” from this set in my purse.

Notes: I didn’t manage to get out early today while the sun was out, so had to settle with an indoor shot for today’s picture.

Notes: Totally miserable weather outside all day. But this week’s 366 theme is Animals, so I thought I would take a still life of this glass cat sculpture.

Notes: Having a quick play with writing with light. Took a few goes to get it framed up right, but I think this isn’t bad! No better options outside today, it was another grey day.

Title: Leaden Skies

Notes: Another busy day at home. During the afternoon, the skies became rather menacing, and I was able to dash outside for a quick shot of the neighbours’ tree before the heavens opened.

Notes: After yesterday’s near miss, I made sure I took something first thing today! Lucky I did, because although the weather was great for most of the time during daylight hours, I was very busy at home, and had to wait in for a Special Delivery parcel which never came! So much for being “guaranteed by 1pm”. But don’t get me started on ranting about the Royal Mail… This was a shot of some early morning frost melting from the top of my car as the sun crept across the roof.
