Title: Citypoint Evening Location: Moorgate Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM Notes: An utterly foul day, weatherwise, today. It rained and rained. In the evening, I was in London for the BBC Backstage Christmas party, held for the London web dev community. It was a short walk from Liverpool Street, but a damp one! This was just outside Citypoint. I took some others without people in, but just liked the way this couple accidentally walked into the frame, huddling under their brolly.
Title: See The Light Location: Stock Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM Notes: One of Ken Scott’s pieces of advice from his talk last night was: “look for the light and pictures will follow”. Wise words. I was in Stock for a Christmas Lunch today, and having arrived a little bit early, took a quick walk around the village to find something to photograph. I looked for the light, and found my picture!
Title: Cutting Edge Location: Sheffield Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM Notes: The morning dawned cold and foggy, and by evening it was back to that too. But for an hour or so in the early afternoon, the sun came out and I was able to dash out for a few photos close to the BarCampSheffield2 venue. This sculpture, Cutting Edge, is located on the pedestrian walkway from the main Railway station and the sun was hitting it in just the right angle for a good picture. We went out geocaching later on, and I got some atmospheric dusk fog shots too, but I still liked this one best for today’s image.
Title: High Street Illuminations Location: Chelmsford Camera: Canon Ixus 850IS compact Notes: Hobson’s Choice with photos for today: I only took two, as I was busy at meetings for most of the day. Found myself in Chelmsford late this afternoon, and took this “insurance” shot of the Christmas lights. It’s not exactly Blackpool, is it?
Title: Senate House Busker Location: Cambridge Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 17-85mm EF f/4-5.6 IS USM Notes: I had a meeting in Cambridge this afternoon, and was able to spend a few minutes beforehand taking some pictures around the town centre. The light wasn’t great, but I enjoyed listening to this busker playing classical Spanish tunes in front of the Senate House. He looked quite a character.
Title: Boreham House Location: Boreham, Chelmsford Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM Notes: I had to pop over to the Parcel Force depot in Boreham this morning to pick up a package, and took the opportunity to stop at Boreham house for a quick picture. I liked the muted tones of the day and thought sepia suited the mood rather well. Compare this with Ken’s version of the same location from a few weeks ago!
Title: Playground Shadows Location: Margaretting Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM Notes: There was a bit of sun about today, so I nipped out during lunchtime for a breath of fresh air and took the camera with me. This was in a pleasant little playground in Margaretting – I’ve driven by many times but never stopped for a look before. I love the light this time of year (when we get some!).
