Title: In The Pink
Location: Sussex University
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Spent the day geeking out at BarCampBrighton3. Lots of good talks and plenty of freebies! The Student Union bar has disturbingly pink illumination though.

Title: Wild Night On The Pier
Location: Brighton
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: The dConstruct08 conference was a great success again. The weather wasn’t particularly kind to us, and this quick shot was one I grabbed on the way to the after-conference party. The wind was howling around, but thankfully the rain stopped briefly!

Title: Pavillion Puddle
Location: Brighton
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I travelled down to Brighton this afternoon ready for a conference tomorrow and over the weekend. It was great to catch up with some friends who I haven’t seen for ages. We took a walk around the town, dodging the heavy showers. This puddle was reflecting some of the Pavillion’s minarets quite nicely. A lot of the building is currently in scaffolding, so it’s a bit difficult to get a decent shot of the whole thing.

Title: Up & Under
Location: Stock Windmill
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: Another meeting in Stock today, so afterwards I took a detour to the Windmill to see if I could get some pictures. It’s a terribly difficult building to photograph well - the sails always seem to be pointing in the wrong direction, and the mill itself is jammed up against the boundary of a pretty small field. The best view is from the neighbour’s garden, but this is up a private driveway, so unless you know the locals, it’s a bit hopeless! Anyway, I thought I would sneak up and under it’s nose and see what sort of picture that made. Had to wait a few minutes for the sun to come out, but I think it was worth it in the end.

Title: Lights In The Sky
Location: Moulsham Mill, Chelmsford
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I admit it. This is probably my worst photo so far of the year. But you haven’t seen the others I took today. Oh dear… let’s hope tomorrow improves!

Title: Underside Shadows
Location: Wivenhoe
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 24-105mm EF f/4 L IS USM
Notes: I had a client meeting in Colchester this afternoon, and a networking event in the evening, so I stopped over at my parents’ house in Wivenhoe for some dinner. The sun came out briefly and I managed to catch these leaves with some interesting shadows on them.

Title: The Clock Is Ticking
Location: At Home
Camera: Canon EOS 30D / 50mm EF f/1.8 + 12mm extension tube
Notes: Well, today is officially the end of Summer (such as it was!), and we’ve also reached another milestone - we’re exactly 2/3rds of the way through the year and this 366 Project. I’m afraid I didn’t venture far past the back door for today’s shot. Although the forecasted deluge hasn’t yet reached Essex, the light was pretty awful for most of the day, so I’ve stayed at home doing jobs.
